From 1 September 2025, companies registered with the Board of Investment (BOI) will be required to comply with a new rule designed to improve data protection and accountability. Under this change, all businesses using the Single Window BOI system must appoint a BOI Account Manager and ensure that person is officially registered in line with Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
This update reflects Thailand’s ongoing effort to align investment processes with global data protection standards. As more companies rely on the BOI’s Single Window system for digital services, the government is placing greater focus on safeguarding both corporate and personal information. By linking BOI account management with PDPA compliance, the policy ensures that sensitive data is better protected, while also improving transparency and accountability for all companies operating under BOI privileges.
To meet this requirement, businesses should begin preparations as early as possible:
The new BOI regulation applies to all companies using the Single Window system in Thailand, including both local businesses and foreign-invested enterprises. While it introduces an additional administrative step, the long-term benefits are clear: stronger compliance, more secure data management, and a reliable point of contact for any data-related matters.
For businesses, this change also reinforces confidence when dealing with international partners. By embedding PDPA compliance into BOI processes, Thailand is signalling its commitment to responsible data practices, which can enhance the country’s reputation as a secure and business-friendly destination for foreign investment.
Authorities highlight that this rule is not only about following regulations but about creating a safer digital environment where businesses can work with confidence. Since the deadline is 1 September 2025, companies are advised to act early, check internal processes, appoint the right Account Manager, and prepare the needed documents to avoid delays or disruptions.
